The Machine Learning in Neurosurgery (MLiNS) Lab builds artificial intelligence that helps surgeons and physicians diagnose and treat diseases of the brain and spine. Philanthropic support lets us pursue new ideas quickly, train the next generation of physician-scientists and AI researchers, and move discoveries from the lab into the operating room.
We are grateful for any contribution, big or small.
What your support makes possible
Faster, more accurate brain tumor diagnosis. Our Intelligent Histology program pairs rapid optical imaging with AI to diagnose brain tumors during surgery in minutes. FastGlioma, published in Nature, helps surgeons find tumor left behind after resection.
AI that reads brain imaging. Our Neuroimaging program built Prima and NeuroVFM, foundation models trained on routine health system data to interpret brain MRI and CT.
Better predictions for patients. Our Patient Forecasting program predicts outcomes and survival so that patients and families can make better-informed decisions.
Training future leaders. Gifts support the students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows on our team who will carry this work forward.
You can try several of our models yourself through our interactive demos.
How to give
To make a gift or to discuss how you would like to support our work, please email Dr. Todd Hollon directly at tocho [at] umich.edu. We are happy to talk about directing support toward a specific research program, student training, or the lab’s work as a whole.
